then into decimal or straight into percentage

1/3 is commonly known as 0.33 or 33.3%

In order to express any value as a percentage of another, you must divide that value by the original and multiply by 100.

In this case, the value is 30 and the original is 90.

So,

30 / 90 = 0.333333...

0.333333... x 100 = 33.3%

Therefore £30 as a percentage of £90 is 33.3%

£30/£90 = 3/9

3/9 can be simplified to 1/3 since the common multiple is 3. So (3/3 = 1) and (9/3 = 3) resulting in 1/3.

1/3 of 100% is 33.3% recurring (33.3333333%)

Hi Carolyn!

With this question, the best way to work out £30 as a percentage of £90 would be to do 30 divided by 90 because 30 is the part and 90 is the whole. This will then give you 0.33… as a decimal. To then turn this into a percentage, we multiply by 100. Giving us the answer of 33.33… (reoccurring).

Hope this helps!

First, you want to make it into a fraction which will be 30/90 (30 out of 90). Then you can simplify this fraction by dividing by their highest common factor- 30. That gives us 1/3. Then you do 1 divided by three (as the line in a fraction means divide) which gives you 0.33 recurring. To find a percentage from a decimal you multiply by 100. Therefore the percentage is 33%.
