A bit about Jennifer

I have been a fully qualified teacher since 2007 when I qualified to teach Physics at secondary level in UK schools. In ten years, I achieved some of the best results among the local county schools and was twice nominated for the National Teaching Awards. My teaching style is bespoke. I have enough experience to adapt to many different learning styles and personalities. I don't take myself too seriously and I always take time to get to know my students and their specific learning styles. Working with a tutor is more of a collaboration than a servant and master. I have often been told that I have a near magical ability to take the most complex scientific ideas and communicate them in such a way that my students feel more confident in their abilities and inspired by their progress. After many years of teaching in schools and online with students of all backgrounds and nationalities, I have a blend of teaching styles that I draw on depending on the student. Some students learn by interacting verbally and some prefer to learn through observation. For some, I encourage students to be active in their learning through questioning, instant feedback, and problem-solving. Other students prefer me to deliver a package of information and then use that to solve problems and answer written questions with constructive feedback and further instruction. I first started tutoring in 2016, when my son was very young. I fell in love with the personalized style of teaching that supports the individual exactly as they need. Due to demand, I became a full-time tutor in 2018 and moved my tutoring online to provide services for international and national students across the globe. I believe that critical thinkers are the best learners. My philosophy is to deliver the theory while getting the student to really think about the whole process, from "can you think of somewhere else that you have seen this?" down to "Why do you think you have struggled with that?" and "Why do you have more success in this topic than that?" in this way, students become their own mentor and another world of learning opens up to them.
