A bit about Sophie M

I am a dynamic, creative and passionate teacher of French, German and Spanish, with an in-depth knowledge of the KS3, KS4 and KS5 curricula. I have been presenting students for GCSE and A Level for over 20 years. I possess a wealth of resources with which to motivate and challenge students of all abilities, including adults. I specialise in French, German and Spanish to GCSE and A Level. I have an in-depth knowledge of the KS3, KS4 and KS5 curricula and keep up to date with all curriculum changes by regularly attending webinars. I am most familiar with the AQA and SQA exam boards. I also deliver conversational lessons to adults. My lessons are very much tailored to a student's needs but would typically consist of a vocabulary activity to revisit prior learning, a grammar activity to practise verb conjugation and a topic-based focus with activities to accompany it. I have done one-to-one tutoring during my 20-year career and also regularly provide individual and group support to students in school at lunchtimes and after school. I love to share my passion for languages with students and to see them grow in confidence, develop an appreciation of other cultures, communicate effectively and open doors to different opportunities. I have a teaching style which involves modelling and facilitating. I ensure that there is a focus at the start of the lesson, share the new learning which is going to take place, model how it is going to be acquired and then my student will practise further examples using this model.
