A bit about Jason

I offer a safe and non-judgemental space where you can learn in confidence. I currently lecture at a UK university, following the BPS core curriculum for BSc/BA Psychology courses. As such, I have experience of teaching Clinical, Biological, Social, Developmental and Cognitive Psychology to a range of age groups and abilities. I recently completed my PhD in Psychology, whereby my research included investigating the behavioural and psychophysiological processes underlying the human attention system, and how patterns of cognition and attention relate to clinical outcomes, namely depression and anxiety. I also have experience of providing one-to-one and group-based clinical interventions in the NHS and within the charity sector, targeting eating disorders, addictions, and specific mental health outcomes. I am able to provide evidence-based psychological interventions and mindfulness-based training. I've been tutoring psychology for around four years,, which started during my PhD and has continued into my current teaching post at university. How interesting and surprising it can be. Psychology is absolutely fascinating, and only becomes more so the more you learn. Collaborative. Learning is a journey that involves active participation from all parties. It can, and indeed should, be an enjoyable process, which is why I try to ensure that original thought is prompted frequently and students play an active role in their learning. When I'm not teaching, I'm a musician, writer and psychological therapist, which allows me to fulfil each of my core interests regularly. I believe that being a well-rounded individual outside of the classroom / lecture theatre is vital in order to maintain the faculties needed to teach effectively. I have a BSc, MSc and PhD, all related to Psychology. I've primarily taught at undergraduate level, but my skills and knowledge obtained from both academia and clinical roles can easily be transferred to A level / Access. teaching.
