A bit about Louise D

I have been teaching GCSE English Language and Literature for nearly 30 years in a host of different high schools. I have also mentored lots of different students in my own time and online in preparation for GCSE English June and November entry. As a GCSE examiner too I can support you in order to secure that grade to get to where you want to go next whether that's Sixth Form, an Apprenticeship or college. Although I have been teaching since 1994 I still love learning and passing on my enthusiasm in reading and writing. I specialise in preparing students for GCSE ENGLISH LANGUAGE and LITERATURE (most recently the AQA exam board qualifications but I have also taught other exam boards). By teaching you different ways to approach each question we can work together to improve whether its working out how a text is structured or improving your narrative writing skills. I can give you helpful hints and ideas on what you need to include for each question type to get that grade you deserve. My lessons always start with a 'Where are we now?' update and then progress to discussion and understanding of what is required on each key question. I'll model some ideas and then we can write together using the mark scheme or concentrate on key reading skills. If you have any problems with any aspect of a question we can iron out these there and then! I first started teaching in 1994 and started tutoring outside of school in 1996. I have supported students of all abilities to achieve and get the grade they deserve. By teaching 1 to 1 I can help answer any questions you may have and get you back on track. All I need to see is the drive to succeed. I always get excited every year when the GCSE results arrive and I can see just how much progress a student has made. Being nominated for teacher of the year and my English Department as English Team of the year are some particular high points in my career.
