A bit about Ananthi A

I specialise in teaching KS3 and GCSE maths. I can assist students with homework and also help them prepare for exams such as 11+, SATs and GCSE foundation and higher maths. I started tutoring at the beginning of 2021, teaching mathematics and English. Previously, I had experience working as a university teaching assistant in maths and biology. While studying for my university degree, I also had worked as a museum exhibit educator teaching basic chemistry experiments to children. Prior to the lesson, I like to find out what the student wants to learn or work on during the lesson. During the lesson, I will go through theory pertaining to the area that they want to work on, then I will work with the student on some example problems, letting them take the lead. During the lesson, I will make sure the student understands the theory and concepts used by asking questions or by asking them to demonstrate their knowledge. Tutoring online gives me the opportunity to meet a diverse community of people and do what I enjoy whilst sharing my passion for mathematics with them. I have a Master of Research degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of York and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Dundee. Aside from teaching, I like going to see ballet performances or the theatre and going to art galleries.
