A bit about Amy B

I am a highly conscientious and reliable teaching professional with a genuine passion for literature and language, and care for students’ progression. My qualifications include: BA Degree in Literature (First Class with Honours); Masters in Creative Writing (Distinction); PGCE in Lifelong Learning; and CELTA. I have extensive experience working within a range of teaching and learning contexts, including teaching GCSE and A Level English Language and Literature to adult and younger learners; delivering one-to one specialist support to high needs learners (including those with dyslexia, communication difficulties & autism); and delivering creative writing workshops and ESOL courses in community settings. I have also worked in healthcare settings, including a specialist neurological rehabilitation team, delivering bespoke speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy sessions. This role required a calm, collaborative and compassionate approach and the ability to quickly develop a rapport with individuals; I am able to transfer these skills to my teaching and apply a humanist and holistic approach, effectively promoting the wellbeing of learners. I focus on building learners’ confidence through increasing enjoyment and engagement in learning, thereby enabling students to reach their full potential and achieve their academic and life goals. I enjoy creative writing and have recently had poems published in literary magazines: StepAway, Spelt, The Madrigal Press and Puca. I also enjoy keeping fit and healthy through yoga, cooking Indian food and walking. I am a huge music fan and enjoy travelling and exploring different cultures. GCSE and A Level English Language and Literature / ESOL (English as an additional language) / Exam Preparation (AQA, WJEC, Edexcel, Pearson) / Study Skills / English for Academic Purposes / Creative Writing. I also have extensive experience supporting learners with a wide range of learning requirements (including dyslexia, communication difficulties, ADHD and / or autism). My approach is communicative, collaborative and compassionate - I engage learners through highly enjoyable and creative activities to build skills & confidence. I am able to provide tailored lessons and resources to suit the needs and interests of individual learners. PGCE Lifelong Learning BA Hons Degree in Literature (First Class) MA Creative Writing (Distinction) CELTA (B)
