A bit about Dan

A master of making the most complex topics easier to understand. I'm all about delivering the highest quality explanations so that my students leave with a solid grasp of the content. I ask regular questions to check for understanding throughout my explanations and will only move on if the student is ready. Exam practice will form a large part of my sessions with the aim being to cover as many different question types as possible. I’ll provide advice on the best ways to revise, as well as a range of resources that have helped students to achieve the top grades.My teaching style is backed by research and everything I do is designed to help pupils improve the quantity and quality of knowledge. I understand that this can only be done in a friendly and supportive learning environment which I prioritise creating. My students make good progress with me and pick up a love for learning science along the way. This is the perfect time for Y10 and Y12 students to get a head start with their GCSEs/A levels. A little bit of extra tutoring filled with exam practice will make a huge difference come September. In my experience, students who achieve the top grades have always maximised this time period. I only have capacity for a couple of students next year so please message me if you have any questions. I have taught biology, chemistry and physics at KS3 and KS4, using both AQA and Edexcel exam boards. I am also a fully qualified A-level biology teacher currently using the OCR specification. Last year I attended a 4 day residential course at the STEM centre (University of York) designed for A-level teachers looking to perfect their practice. My teaching style ensures that my pupils feel successful in science. I have seen pupils who start out with low confidence begin to believe in themselves, become more ambitious, and achieve results they didn't think were possible. Showing people that science can be 'for them' is why I do the job. There is no better feeling. Watching my students exceed their expectations!
