A bit about Alexandra F

I have had a passion for teaching English language and literature for decades, it's the best curriculum subject ! A wide knowledge of the wonderful world of English Literature will be the most precious gift of a lifetime. The ability to express yourself accurately when writing and voice an opinion in an articulate confident manner are all key aspects of my teaching approach. One of my specialist areas is the teaching of Shakespeare's works: his tragic plays are my favourites as they offer so much opportunity for insights into and empathy for the human predicament. Poetry is my next favourite genre, the structure and rhythm of the spoken words are really appealing to me: especially the poets of the Great War, World War 1, who offer such personal insights into their experience of conflict and survival. I have taught GCSE English Language and Literature using AQA and Edexcel examination boards. In my last Year 11 teaching group every student gained a Level 8 or 9 in both language and literature: they really enjoyed the course ! I have taught A/S and A2 English Language and Literature using Edexcel and AQA examination board syllabi: one of last students gained an A* rating, only losing one mark from the entire mark allocation available!
