Friendly tutor with 10+yrs experience in Science and SEN/Mental Health
You can book a free 20 minute, no-commitment introduction with any of our tutors. How does this work?
I am an experienced teacher with a passion for supporting others in their learning. I understand the pressures students are under today, and can work with you to create a learning plan that suits your needs and goals. Outside of tutoring, I love being outside in nature, usually at the beach or exploring the mountains. If I'm not out adventuring, you'll find me lost in a good book!
Having studied both Zoo Conservation and Ecology at university, I specialise in Biology. I am fully qualified to teach all Sciences, as well as Health and Social Care, and Child Development. I have also undergone extensive training in mentoring and supporting young people with their mental health. I am very aware that if our mental health isn't supported, then learning won't happen. Working with my students, I will always create an individual learning plan which will be able to be adapted to your needs and goals.
I have been tutoring for over 10 years, both online and offline. I am grateful for the changes in technology which allow us to connect online in such interactive ways.
Usually my lessons would begin with a wellbeing check and quick catch-up on the previous week, answering any questions that might have arisen between sessions. We would perhaps do a short game or quiz as a recap and refresh. Then there would be time for new knowledge - whether this is a discussion, a research task or a short video, there would be opportunity for us to explore elements that are of interest to you. Depending on your goals, we may also do some exam questions to build familiarity with questions and mark schemes, as well as checking understanding.
My teaching philosophy? That everyone should be able to enjoy learning! While exams can be important, it is just as important to create space to explore the elements that capture your interest.
I have experience teaching; WJEC, AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards. I teach KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Outside of teaching I love walking in the mountains, yoga and meditation, and reading anything I can get my hands on!
