A bit about Clare J

I have been a teacher for over 20 years and have loved every minute (well, almost). I've always thrived on watching pupils succeed and grow in confidence and skill. I have a good deal of experience in helping pupils who are struggling at bit in class, particularly those with ASD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. As for other aspects of my life - I have a house and garden full of animals, love kayaking and hiking as well as relaxing with a good book. My main specialisms are SEN - ASD, PMLD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. I have many years experience of working with SEN pupils in both mainstream and specialist schools and have supported mainstream teachers working with SEN pupils in their class. I have a proven track record for quickly developing a relationship with my pupils and this in turn plays a big part in their achievements. My lessons would usually start with a check in to see how you are, then a little warm up game. We would then recap on the last lesson before explaining what we are about to learn. The main part of the lesson could be a game, written work, white board activity or one of many things depending on how you like to learn. At all times you would be encouraged to discuss what we are doing and ask for clarification of anything you are not sure of. We would finish with a little exercise to show me what you have learned.
