A bit about Marguerite E

I am an enthusiastic, friendly, and highly motivated Science teacher/tutor. I am passionate about science and enjoy creating an environment that encourages and supports students in achieving their goals. I completed a Master's in Education (M.Ed.) and a PGCE in Chemistry with Science at the University of Cambridge. I also hold a PhD and a First-Class honours degree in Chemistry. I particularly enjoy 1:1 tutoring as it creates the opportunity to provide tailored individual assistance to specific problems and an environment where students can develop their understanding of critical concepts in Science and apply their knowledge competently. My twenty years of experience working in high-tech global industries and my teaching experience and academic qualifications help me connect my Science lessons to everyday life and show how Science is an integral part of our world. I specialise in Science and Chemistry, KS3 and KS4 Science (GCSE combined science and Triple science), and KS5 Chemistry (AQA, OCR-A, OCR-B, Edexcel) I have tutored A-level chemistry pupils throughout my career, mentored students during their industrial placement year, and have taught KS3 and KS4 Science (GCSE combined science and Triple science) and KS5 Chemistry in mainstream schools. I see teaching as an opportunity to engage and inspire students in the subject I am passionate about and share the experiences I have gained in working as a scientist in a broad range of high-tech global industries and as a Science teacher in mainstream schools. I enjoy working with students and helping them achieve their goals. I love taking students through a learning curve, I love seeing how their confidence grows, and I love the light bulb moments when students make the connection between theory and real-life situations. I have tutored A-level chemistry pupils and mentored students with their projects during their industrial year placements. I found this work to be very rewarding as it allowed me; to share my thoughts and ideas with students; to listen, understand and appreciate the pupils themselves; and work collaboratively with students to overcome the difficulties they were encountering in their subject area. I adopt an open and friendly style of teaching which promotes learning through interaction. I use quizzes and exam style questions in my lessons to help students to understand and apply knowledge competently.
