A bit about Emma D

I have recently graduated from Oxford University with a first-class degree in History and French (joint-honours). Having been through the whole process of KS3, GCSEs, A Levels, university application, and degree only recently, I understand what support is required at each stage. I find this helps me to not only relate to my students, but to provide the most direct and efficient sessions. I love sharing my passion for my subjects with students, and have been tutoring under different forms for the past seven years. I have also worked as a full-time English teacher in China, as well as having spent the past four years providing Oxbridge admissions advice and running academic taster sessions through my college. This combination of teaching experience and my own experience as a student has provided me with an insight into all sides of the tutoring system. I find one-on-one tutoring especially rewarding, able to work directly with my students and cater my lessons to their specific needs and interests. My classes consist of a combination of helping the student to consolidate any syllabus-based knowledge, as well as focusing on broader techniques such as essay writing and formulating arguments. I have found that this not only puts students in the best position for their exams, but equally aids to build more general critical thinking skills. I teach both History and French at KS3, GCSE, IB, and A Level. I also teach History at undergraduate degree level. In addition, I have experience teaching general essay writing skills and exam/revision techniques at all levels. I am also trained to provide university admissions advice (for Oxbridge as well as other universities), and can offer assistance with personal statements and test/interview preparation. I teach all major exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, etc.) and am happy to chat if you have any other requirements.
