A bit about Alex T

I have just qualified from the University of Plymouth with a 1st Class degree in Primary teaching specialising in mathematics. I am a friendly person who loves getting to know new people and have loved being in the priamry classroom helping children 1 to 1. My time at university, in schools, helping pupils were some of the best years of my life and I'm excited for this new chapter! I specalise in primary due to my primary degree, taking extra interest in maths. however i am passionate about all of the primary subjects. my experience in primary schools during university has delivered the opportunity to plan for and teach across all of the subjects achieving the highest stage possible within teaching practice. I take extra interest however in subjects like ICT, art and history due to my personal interests! I like to start with a recap to assess where we are, the move onto the body of the lesson before testing learning and progresssion normally through a fun game! Outside of teaching I am a keen artist with a special interest in sketching animals! I am always looking for new details to add, I have recently started to explore with a digital tablet (which I will utilise in our lessons) for some digital drawings. When I am not indoors drawing, I love to be outside! I can often be found playing football or travelling around the country camping and visiting cool spots like castles. I most recently travelled around the edge of Scotland camping along the way. This is my first time tutoring and I'm very excited to start helping everybody I can! Teaching has always been my goal in life and im looking forward to exploring many ways of conveying information and making it fun! My teaching philosophy is that the learner comes first, I will adapt teaching methods in order to help learners rather than sticking to one routine that works only for some students. Everyone has access to information but some people access it differently and I want to be here to help that. I am a DBS checked Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) who achieved a 1st class degree at university and a stage 1 in teaching practice. Teaching primary offers many fantastic benefits, but the experience I love most is getting to know my students and seeing them grow through areas they may struggle or excel. My favourite moments are those little 'Eureka!' moments in which one of my learners realises they knew how to do it all along and have now discovered it for themselves.
