A bit about Louise

My lessons are designed to engage and challenge students whilst making them feel that they are in a secure environment in which they can ask questions and make mistakes. Students love the sense of pride they feel when they realise that they can do something that they thought they couldn't. Students appreciate my humour, kindness and the way in which I ensure the lesson gives them what they need to succeed. A card from a student that simply said: "Thank you for being a great teacher, but most of all thank you for being an amazing human being." My own teachers and the way in which they brought out the best in me - even when I was at my worst . I enjoy walking, writing, reading and travelling. I tutor at KS3 - A Level. I teach both English Literature and English Language. I first started tutoring 10 years ago and have helped many young people to improve their skills, their confidence and pass exams. I am a fully qualified teacher. I also have leadership qualifications that I gained throughout my career as a teacher and leader. I've taught English Language and Literature to 11-19 years olds for over 12 years. During this time I have worked in the secondary classroom and also as a private tutor. Within 18 months of starting my career in teaching I became Head of English in a school rated as 'outstanding' by inspectors. The following year I was made Assistant Headteacher at the same school. My work to improve results in my own school led to my role as support for other schools in the region where I worked alongside Heads of English to improve provision and results for students. My experience and reputation led me to become Lead Practitioner for GCSE English Language in north Wales, during this time I held workshops and conferences across the region to train teachers to deliver the new WJEC examinations. After enjoying a fast-paced and successful career I have now taken semi-retirement in order to enjoy some time with my husband and parents. I spend my time writing, walking, travelling and tutoring.
