A bit about Denis N

I am British, living in England for 25 years with 10 years of tutoring experience. I graduated from Brighton University and worked for a financial organisation. I speak French fluently and the idea of tutoring has always being my passion ever since I was a young adult. I firmly believe that I have what it takes to develop and implement tutoring plans that best fit each individual student’s academic needs. I specialise in language tutoring including English and French at 3 levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. I have more than 5 years experience tutoring and children and adult. I can work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds and can exhibit patience and passion during tutoring sessions ensuring learning outcomes and goals are reached and achieved. I can also provide Maths tutoring at primary school level from year 1 to 6. I currently have a flexible schedule and can provide 20 to 25hours on a weekly basis of availability for the role. I have a practical structure and format and mainly focus on student's ability by maximizing their strength and minimizing their weaknesses. I have a very organised time table which aim to develop key set skills such as speaking, reading, writing and listening. Becoming a teacher lets me impart life lessons that students will never forget and puts me in a position to influence their decisions, behaviors, strengths, weaknesses and imagination. Becoming a teacher lets me take part in shaping the next generation. I have the ability to make a positive difference in a students educational life span. I have provided tutoring services for more than 10 years and watched how children grew and developed their inter personal academic skills. I have received high ratings and feedback from my students and as a resulted have successfully achieved great exams results and certifications I am interested in many sports including football and basketball. I was the captain assistant of my university basketball team during my second year of studies at the University of Brighton. My other interests include playing the guitar which I started to learn recently. I am also learning how to speak Spanish in order to improve my language skills and I am always interested in meeting people with different or common interests. I graduated from Sussex University where I studied a Master’s degree course in International Business studies and Industrial engineering . I also completed a TESOL and TEFL course whilst volunteering a local school whilst gaining teaching classroom experience. My teaching style can best be described as interactive, supportive, and transparent. I encourage my students to have a voice in the classroom, ask questions when they come up, and participate actively in all conversations regardless of their level of confidence. My students love my enthusiastic and fun approach using practical examples and activities. I enjoy getting to know my learners and to learn about life from their perspective. It brings me such a sense of joy to gain insight into their views and opinions about life. I can confidently say that I have learnt as much from my learners as they have learnt from me. That is why I love tutoring. I believe that a classroom should be a safe, caring community where students are free to speak their mind and blossom and grow. I will use strategies to ensure our classroom community will flourish, like the morning meeting, positive vs. negative discipline, classroom jobs, and problem-solving skills. My first tutoring starting over 10 years ago when I was studying at the university of Brighton. I was part of an academic student society and was a mentor and tutor to new international students who joined university and help with study curricular activities. I was also a volunteer in my local primary and secondary school helping disadvantaged students preparing them for their end of year exams. My teaching styles varies and depend on students needs and requirements. I have grown into an analytical teacher. Learning how to align learning targets with states standards is benefiting my ability to understand which lessons I need to revisit for my students. And in turn, this information allows me to build a lesson with more creative energy.
