A bit about Dawn B

I was home tutoring foreign students 16 years ago then began working as a tutor in schools a year afterwards. Having worked within the primary, secondary and private sector I have gained much experience. English has remained my first subject with some history along the way. I have trained within special educational needs and can differentiate for additional needs students. I have created and developed Intervention departments and spent much time tutoring online students unable to attend school - not only because of lockdown. I have recently developed a new role at my current school for Literacy Intervention Tutor to close the academic gap for those students who need it most. I am keen, able, patient and caring. With of course some fun and creativity thrown in! I have continued my learning due to employment in schools and stay current with up to date training. I have a B.A in Medieval Studies, M.A in Creative Writing and an A Level in English Literature. In between these academic achievements I have remained proactive completing certificates and an NVQ level 3 in Teaching Support. My B.A consisted of modules on languages : Latin, Chaucerian and Anglo Saxon, whilst for the M.A I completed a selection of poetic prose for my thesis. Believeing in energy of mind and body I enjoy outdoor activities and nutritional eating. I have a level 1 in kayaking, a diploma in foraging and take part in long walks/hill climbing with local groups most weekends. I also cycle regularly and try to climb a few mountains when able. Camping out in forests and appreciating nature is a big must for me as it balances nicely with working online indoors. Not having a dog of my own I also like to take other's dogs for a walk when they are in need of exercise. When not breathing in the fresh air I try to read new books and create calm and creativity in the mind. All this recharges the mind for my online work allowing vitality and energy to shine through to the students. With experience of exam boards such as AQA and OCR I have tutored students for grade progression, using past papers for revision purposes and understanding exam board criteria. Due to my lengthy experience in various types of schools I have taught every year group from KS1 to KS4.
