A bit about Jesse

I am an expert in IB Diploma Global Politics, History, Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay, which I taught in Mexico for the last few years. I also have experience with A-level and GCSE Government and Politics, Psychology and Sociology. I am a well travelled individual who likes to bring challenging and thought-provoking ideas to his lessons, who encourages students to always look for ways that their learning can lead to meaningful, concrete changes in their lives. POSTGRADUATE: PGCE Social Science from Manchester Metropolitan. UNDERGRADUTE: BSc Politics from University of Bristol. GOOGLE FOR EDUCATION: Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2. IB DIPLOMA TRAINING • Theory of Knowledge Cat.1 (Online) • Global Politics Cat. 2 (Online) • The Role of the Supervisor in the Extended Essay Cat. 3 (In-Person) • Approaches to Teaching and Learning Cat. 3 (In-Person). PEARSON: Pearson Teacher Education and Leadership Academy: Differentiated Instruction. DEBATE • Online World Schools Debate Championship 2020 - Judge • Mexico Debate Summer Camp 2019 - Coach Training. TRAVELLER: Lived in 7 countries; spent the last 5 years in Mexico! MUSICIAN: 82 tracks and counting; Guitalele-ist. POET: 152 poems and counting. OCEAN-BOUND: Qualified Divemaster and Freediver; Swam with pilot whales last year right from the shore! SPORTS: Trail Running, Wild Swimming, Surfing. BIKEPACKER: Last trip around Yucatan peninsula. STUDENT-LED: Classes should be led by student concerns about their own learning. Where this is not the case, I use a three step approach. APPROACH: 1. Provocation: A controversial statement designed to inspire thought, debate, discussion, and intellectual growth. (e.g. "Consumerism is killing you."). 2. Action: Consideration of concrete actions we can take in our lives to continue developing our thoughts and ideas around the topic. ("Repurpose old clothes to make a piece of clothing that is truly your own."). 3. Reflection: Deep consideration of implications.
