Primary teachers do it all! I have a passion for English. I strive to make maths accessable and fun. What's not to love about learning something new? Having been in education for 15 years, I have taught a wide range of groups (from Reception to Year 6). As a Maths coordinator, I help develop maths across in all the year groups. I also specialise in SAT's preparation and I have helped numerous pupils succeed.
With a smile. A happy pupil is an effective learner. I want pupils to embrace failure. It is only when we are able to fail, that we really learn. If I can make lessons fun and interactive then I believe the learning will come naturally.
To see someone have that "Eureka" moment is special. If I can make multiplication methods enjoyable or grammar great, then that's pretty special too. Helping a pupil believe they can do something they might not have had the confidence to try in normal classroom situations is very rewarding.
One where a pupil is not affraid to have a go and fail (first attempt in learning). It usually doesn't take much tweaking for someone to overcome a barrier and learn something new... Oh, and lots of engaging games help make learning memorable.
Living in Cornwall, it wouldn't be right if I didn't say surfing! I am quite a good guitar player (although my own two children don't always appreciate my singing). I also run regularly. Other interests include: kayaking, paddle boarding, mountain biking, hiking, bushcraft/ wild camping, skating, snowboarding and woodworking.
I would like to think students think of me as a kind, caring teacher who makes learning fun (which it should be).
I am a Primary School teacher with 15 years of classroom experience and success. I think I can help you to succeed as well.
