· Humourous: always a few funny things about learning to make it fun. · Motivated: the first "s" in "success" is "struggle", also in "strength". · Diligent: hard work always pays off, always. · 20+ years of teaching: from toddlers to grandpas, all can find something to learn and I've taught them all. · Cambridge CELTA-certified; Cambridge TKT-certified (M1:3, M2:3, M3:3, CLIL:3) · Chinese national, native mandarin speaker. -TOEFL/IELTS Listening & Speaking: got full scores of these subjects plenty of times -Grammar: many of my students got full scores of SAT sentence corrections -Mandarin: well, I'm a native speaker, aren't I? And I've taught plenty of non-native speakers. 1. Know what your goal means to you: whether it's a test I'll help you crack or real proficiency you want to develop, and most importantly what it takes to achieve 2. Know yourself: where you are, what type of learner you are, and how you learn best 3. Let's do it: learn → check → improve; put your foot on the petal, hands on the task, and eyes on the prize! It’s the language you want to be fluent in! It’s an extension of your personality! It’s a new “YOU” you want to build! This means the "linguistic" side of language learning isn't as important as the L2 "YOU" doppelgänger. 1. 5 days, four hours each day, a student jumped from 7 out of 30 to 27 in TOEFL Reading 2. taught a student how to be critical and he achieved 30 out of 30 in TOEFL Writing 3. taught a dozen of expats in China how to be local and some achieved native-like proficiency
