A bit about Colin

I started teaching over 6 years ago. Since then I have tutored students of all levels in just about any maths or computer science topic imaginable! I have experience tutoring students in the following areas, and the list keeps growing! - KS3 maths - GCSE maths - A-level maths - University math courses (pure, applied, and maths for engineering/chem/physics) - Graduate level math courses - Competition maths (Olympiad, UK maths challenge, Putnam) - Entrance exams (11+, 16+, university interviews) - Students with accessibility needs - GCSE computer science - A-level computer science - University programming - KS3 coding - Programming competitions - Coding interviews I think maths can be fun and interesting if you have the right teacher to explain it to you! I have always enjoyed learning from teachers and professors who love to teach and find ways to make their subject clear and engaging. I was inspired to teach so that I could help other students find that same joy for learning! I try to make my lessons as fun and engaging as possible. I work to find interesting and creative ways of explaining concepts so that they resonate with students, and they develop an appreciation for what they are learning. I find it immensely rewarding when a student leaves a lesson feeling confident and having a better understanding of their subject. For some students that means no longer experiencing panic and stress when faced with a difficult maths questions, while for others that might be confidence in their ability to solve difficult problems on a competitive exam. Whatever your goals, my favourite part about being a tutor is helping you achieve them! I am very flexible with lesson plans, after all each student is different. If you have particular questions, I am happy to answer them. If not I can create a lesson plan to help address any areas you might be struggling with, or even to offer a challenge if you want to take your problem solving skills to the next level!
