A bit about Katherine G

My specialist subject is Psychology and Social Science. First and foremost is my passion for the science of psychology which I teach with enthusiasm at GCSE, A level, IB, and Access to Higher Education. I have an approachable, down-to-earth disposition and am committed to the success of my students. One of my proudest moments was hearing from an old student, who had struggled with academic writing skills at the beginning of the course, to have finally achieved their dream of enrolling in a master's degree in social work. My students love the enthusiasm and passion I have for my specialism in psychology. I have an open approach to my lessons encouraging students to explore, enquire and evaluate; there are no questions excluded - this is how new psychological theories are created! Teaching my favourite subject! I love imparting the knowledge that I have of my subject, empowering students to achieve things they never thought possible. I have a relaxed and friendly approach to help students feel confident and at ease, and to be able to ask the questions they need the answers to. My teaching style is inclusive and is not a one-size-fits-all approach, rather it is tailored to the needs of the individual learner and evolves with the learner as they gain knowledge. For me, Psychology is the most fascinating science. Psychology has the power to change lives in a positive way. The most rewarding - where a student has the breakthrough aha moments of understanding complex areas of psychological theory. Education changes the world; we are all lifelong learners. We can learn anything we choose to if we have the drive and the passion, together with the right teacher. Psychology is my passion, in and out of tutoring. I also love art, having painted professionally for many years now. I love the outdoors, horses, nature, and the ocean. I hold a BSc (Hons) Combined Social Sciences (politics, sociology, and psychology), PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education teaching qualification, incorporating the Diploma in Education and Training), and a PGC (Post Graduate Certificate) Psychology.
