A bit about Marta C

I am a language specialist and a native speaker of Spanish and Italian. I have been teaching languages internationally since 2008. France, Thailand, India and Japan are some of the places where I have taught, gaining very valuable knowledge and cultural experience. I returned to England after two years in Japan and have taught secondary with great success rates since 2013. To further my development and teaching skills with a special focus on GCSE and A level, I joined Pearson as an external examiner in 2017. This has given me first hand knowledge of how exam questions are created, where the pitfalls are and how to avoid them to help students reach their maximum potential. I also have extensive experience teaching languages online and creating digital content since 2013. My approach is practical and tactical to help you improve and get the grade you want and deserve. My students have said they love that I use clear examples and teach exam technique in an engaging way. I am very intuitive and flexible in my approach when I teach and can see when something does not work and how to approach something differently to make sure that each student that I tutor reaches their best potential in a way that is manageable, fun and most importantly stress free. My lessons are like a three course menu. They start with any doubts or misconceptions from the previous lesson or an activity to set the context. As a main there is a grammar and vocabulary focus facilitated by a minimum of two skills (listening, reading and translation mostly) or exam questions from past papers to practice skills by topic in a real exam setting and to finish up we will recap and solidify the acquired knowledge, tackle any questions as well as setting a focus for the next lesson. I have a BA in English Literature and Linguistics as well as TESOL certificate, which enabled me to work in South East Asia as an English teacher. My second degree is in Translation and Interpreting. I also have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and Teaching of Modern Foreign Languages and I am in my final year of an MA in Psychotherapy. I have taught all exam boards from Edexcel, AQA, Eduqas and IGCSE. I have been a Pearson examiner since 2017. Outside of teaching I have a passion for mental health and community support, so I volunteer as a trainee counsellor for a charity twice a week. I also enjoy baking, travelling and spending time in nature.
