A bit about Stuart B

I have been a Maths teacher for 7 years, following a long 32-year career in the UK armed forces. I specialise in teaching KS3 and KS4 maths to GCSE (11-16 year old students) and have an excellent success rate with the students I have taught in school. I am also a Head of Year, and so have extensive safeguarding and welfare support experience to help my students become the best version of themselves. I have a Bachelors degree with honours from the Open University, as well as a Masters in Business Administration. I achieved Qualified teacher Status (QTS) in 2014 and hold a PCGE from Newcastle University. My basic philosophy is to do my very best to help my students become the best versions of themselves as they prepare for future adventures and opportunities. Learning and teaching are shared experiences between the teacher and the student, and I will always put the needs and aspirations of my students front and centre in the classroom - whether in-person or online. Outside of teaching I am a local councillor, serving the community I live in and have been doing this now for some 11 years. We support and represent all our residents and during the pandemic we have provided welfare and practical support to our elderly and vulnerable residents in the village.
