A bit about Rohit

I am a versatile educator and team-player with a specific skillset based in Theatre and English Literature. I have hands-on experience working with SEN, Primary and Secondary Students 1 to 1. Over the last three years, I have accumulated a high-level of in-depth, industry-specific knowledge, which has guaranteed me a place on the PGCE Secondary English with Drama course at UCL for September 2022. As an educator my journey began in Hong Kong: teaching non-native English speakers to become fluent. In this time, I became familiar with the Read Write Inc. program, which aligned perfectly to the British Primary Schools focus on literacy and phonics. Over the last two years I have been able to expand upon this practice further with students, whilst learning how to become part of a school and the responsibilities necessary to excel in my job as a teaching assistant, such as reviewing EHCP and SEND plans, leading intervention groups for children struggling with their SATs and 11+ exams and working with SEN students on a personal basis. I listen first and foremost to what the child's strengths and weaknesses are and playing to those. In an industry that is obsessed with results, the ability to help a child self-reflect helps breed outstanding results that wouldn't be possible with other tutors. As an actor I have been working on sets both professional and amateur working with companies such as Microsoft, McDonalds, and Google via voice recording. I am currently represented by a professional acting agent and have trained with The Unseen Drama, The National Youth Film Academy and Roehampton University. Within this time, I have gained the resilience and determination to take me through any project professionally filled with enthusiasm and the ability to collaborate with myriad of different creatives. Recently, it has been helping prepare two different sets of Year 6 Classes for their SATs during my day job as a Teaching Assistant. As well as helping place a SEN Student in a school that could fulfill the targets of his EHCP plan. Actively removing this child's anxiety about the future and seeing this reflected through his smile was a success all round.
