Question 1

"Describe Two Features..." (4 Marks)

Give two distinct features using 2-3 sentences per feature.

State the feature clearly in sentence one.  

Add specific supporting details in sentences two and three to secure the second mark.

Ensure the two features do not overlap.

Question 2a

Source Usefulness (8 Marks)

In GCSE History, structure your response as a mini-essay evaluating two provided sources for a specific historical enquiry: 

Paragraph 1: Analyse Source A’s Content and Provenance (who, when, why), using your Own Knowledge to corroborate or challenge it.

Paragraph 2: Follow the same format for Source B.

Conclusion: Compare both sources and state how they complement each other despite their limitations.

Question 2b 

Source Follow-Up (4 Marks)

Fill out the required table components directly:  

Detail: Quote a specific detail from Source A.  

Question: Ask a clear, related historical question.  

Type of Source: Select an official primary source (e.g., census data or court logs).  

How it helps: Explain how this source provides evidence to answer your question. 

Question 4

"Explain Why..." (12 Marks)

Write three detailed paragraphs explaining historical causes:

Address the first bullet point prompt in the question for paragraph 1, the second bullet point prompt for paragraph 2, and your own knowledge that goes beyond the prompts provided for paragraph 3.

Focus strictly on why events happened rather than simply describing what happened.  

Questions 5/6 

Essay Evaluation (20 Marks)

Evaluate a given statement and judge "how far you agree": 

Structure: Include an introduction, a paragraph agreeing with the statement, a paragraph disagreeing, an extra paragraph using your own knowledge, and a final conclusion. 

SPaG: 4 dedicated marks are awarded for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and specialist terminology. Apply the writing skills you develop in GCSE English Language.
