A bit about Emma S

As well as being a psychology and sociology tutor for GCSE, A level, degree and international baccalaureate, I am a real life psychologist with 15 years experience. I have a diverse skillset that has taken me all over the world, living in numerous wonderful countries, but my passion is psychology. I love statistics which probably makes me weird, but when you're interested in the subject, statistics actually make sense. Passion for a subject is infectious, success in borne out of mindset and I would love to help you find your passion and determination to succeed. I specialise in helping students improve their writing skills, particularly for essays, assignments, and dissertations. We will also focus on exam techniques, academic essay structuring, and effective revision strategies. Additionally, I offer support in writing concisely, compare and contrast, analysis, critical evaluation and report writing. I provide regular feedback to highlight your strengths and areas for improvement, continuously refining your skills. I am student centred which means lessons can be flexible. I'm not someone who starts with a plan and has to see that through at all costs, sometimes specific needs must be addressed and that's OK. I think feedback is invaluable, so it's always part of my lessons, the rest depends on what we're currently working on and how you like to learn. Let's work together to achieve your goals. My first tutoring was around 2003 when I became a lecturer at Swindon College. At that time I was lecturing about the IT industry to 15-18 year olds. I then moved to Nepal where I taught English as a foreign language to young Nepali girls who had survived trafficking; one of the best experiences of my life. As a psychologist and solution-focused therapist, I can also offer support in motivation, goal achievement, mindset development, and managing exam-related stress. I firmly believe that the right mindset and focused study are crucial for surpassing your current academic goals. My personal success in achieving a first-class honours degree reflects my commitment to these principles.
