A bit about Kameel O

Mathematics from KS2 (Year 6) to A level Mathematics. I also tutor GCSE Chemistry and Physics but this is specific for year 11 students and is set as revision. Seeing students enter year 11 with grade 3 or 4 but finishing the year with grade 7's. We either work through what the student is struggling in or if they have an exam coming up soon, we work through topics on the list. Otherwise I tend to teach them a topic they've not covered then follow it up with practice questions so that when they start the topic in school or college (depending on the level they're studying it), they're able to grasp what the teacher is trying to explain with ease. With Mathematics (and Physics and Chemistry) there's an exact answer that you need to get when solving a question. Once you understand how to approach the given type of question, it doesn't matter what kind of question you're given, since the approach is still the same, you'll be able to answer any question. Maths isn't hard. It may be difficult but isn't hard. Reason I say this is because I truly believe every student is capable of getting a 7 and above. I've seen it plenty of times where students have been told they'll only get a 4 or 5 by the end of year 11 but through hard work they've been able to achieve grades 7 and above. Mathematics is about repetition. Unlike other subjects, the more you practice the technique, the better you become at answering questions over time. Tutors tend to be a little more chilled out compared to teachers. Your focus is on the one (or small group) of students that you're teaching so there's less distractions. You're also able to have a little laugh but can resume with work without arguments.
