A bit about Lissie

The short answer is all secondary school Maths! There's not much difference between the different exam boards (in terms of content required) until you get up to the various A Level modules, but there's nothing I'm not willing or able to teach! I'm an avid sailor (although I'm a sailing instructor, so I suppose that counts as teaching). I also love to read, cycle, run, hike and bake. I'm most happy when I am outdoors and in good company. I'm pretty sociable and like to make sure my time is constantly filled. I also like to write and at the moment I'm making an attempt at designing a new app to help students with anxiety. My own fantastic teachers. I was lucky enough to have Maths teachers who were willing to give up break times just to hang back after class with me and go into more and more depth about something that had piqued my interest. I was inquisitive at school and incredibly appreciative of having had teachers who allowed me to ask the questions I felt needed an answer. I was inspired by this and grew up with the passionate belief that everybody should be entitled to teachers who support them like this. That hugely depends on what my students have going on at that time of year. They might be preparing for mocks, in which case we might methodically go through past papers that they have struggled with. They might just want support with their ongoing studies, in which case we'll usually work through a few questions so I can gauge any sticking points and then address these and work on more questions to consolidate what we've covered. I tend to set homework, because students get out what they put in, so if they're willing to spend time practising then they're much more likely to achieve improvements in their grades and achieve their academic goals.
