A bit about Janice W

I qualified as a teacher over 30 years ago and have experience of all ages but particularly older primary for all subjects and secondary maths to GCSE level. I am a qualified dyslexia tutor and assessor and qualified SENCO. I specialise in GCSE maths and work for Edexcel marking exam papers for GCSE. My experience with SEN means I am able to assess the difficulties students are having with maths then explain things in a way they understand. I also specialise in teaching students with dyslexia to read and techniques that help with learning. I have been tutoring individual pupils who are struggling in school both within the school environment and outside for over 30 years. During covid I conducted online lessons both for classes and individuals. I have worked extensively 1:1 with SEN pupils. I start off with a plan to reach our learning objective but am adaptable if the learner is not understanding. I continually assess understanding and ensure the learner is happy before moving on. The best lessons involve the learner interacting with myself and showing their full understanding of the concepts.
