A bit about Lauren H

I have been a primary school teacher for 5 years. I have taught across key stage one and key stage two. I have a sound understanding of the primary national curriculum and know what is needed for your child to be meeting the expected standards for each primary year group. I have experience teaching children from a range of starting points and those who have special educational needs. I will initially discuss the areas that you feel that your child needs support to develop and improve. We will discuss if they have any additional educational needs e.g. dyslexia so that I can ensure that the delivery of the content is appropriate for your child. During the first session, I will assess your child in an informal way so that they do not feel tested or under pressure, but so that I can further explore areas that need development. I will then plan subsequent lessons to support your child to secure their understanding and progress. I believe that children cannot learn if they are anxious or feel under pressure. I aim to build strong, positive relationships with my students so that learning is relaxed, enjoyable, and at a pace that suits them. I do not feel there is a 'one size fits all' approach and will adapt my teaching approaches and delivery to best suit your child.
