A bit about Jenny

I have been teaching for 8 years and absolutely love working with children. I am enthusiastic and follow a child led approach to give children the opportunity to challenge themselves. I'm an experienced EYFS and Year 1 teacher with a particular passion for Phonics and Maths. I love teaching all aspects of the primary curriculum, especially in the EYFS. I particularly enjoy teaching Phonics and Maths. I use a range of strategies such as games, practical sessions and primarily following a child's interests to get them engaged in learning. I follow a child led approach so will usually follow a child's interests to guide me to set opportunities for challenge. My lessons include a recap of previous sessions, feedback, learning new skills or knowledge using a variety of techniques. Above all my lessons are fun and engaging to keep learners happy. I first started teaching in a primary school in September 2014, I love seeing the light in children's eyes when something clicks. Young children have such an innate passion for learning and don't often realise it, it is finding out what makes them spark that I can then use to help them move forward in their learning. I'm enthusiastic and have a relaxed approach to teaching. I use children's interests and their next steps to guide where our learning journey will go together. Being an EYFS teacher, I do have a silly streak which I often use to further engage pupils. I have a psychology degree which I completed in June 2013. I then undertook my PGCE in September 2013. In September 2014, I started my Masters in Education and completed this after two years. I have been teaching in a primary schools since September 2014.
