A bit about Ciara

I qualified with QTS in June 2017 and since then I have taught in mainstream, SEN and private schools so I have a vast array of experience with a variety of students. I aim to make English more understandable for students, by breaking tasks into small chunks that are manageable and that they can apply to their own studies, creating independent learners. I have also been an examiner for AQA since Summer 2022, which has provided great insight into the mark scheme and what examiners are looking for, in order to maximize student success. Every student is different: with different learning styles and different strengths, I pride myself upon building a rapport with my students to ensure they get the most out of their tuition sessions, whilst hopefully enjoying it along the way! Outside of teaching, I love reading, walking, cooking and bad reality TV! I have a B.A (hons) in English Language from the University of Manchester, therefore my specialties lie in the field of English: English Language KS3 and KS4 and English Literature KS3 and KS4. Texts that I teach for AQA Literature are Power and Conflict Poetry, Macbeth, An Inspector Calls and A Christmas Carol. I have experience teaching English KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5. I have taught WJEC, AQA and Edexcel GCSE English Language and Literature examining boards. I also teach Edexcel IGCSE English Language and IGCSE English Literature. I have also tutored and prepared students for their 11+ examinations.
