A bit about Sophie N

My mum once said to me “you do not remember what someone said to you, but how they made you feel”. This quote sums up perfectly what inspires me to teach. I want my pupils to feel confident in their own ability, to know it’s ok to make mistakes and ultimately to feel that nothing is out of reach. I feel privileged to be a teacher and to help my pupils grow! My name is Sophie and I have been a primary school teacher for the past 8 years as well as Reading lead. I live by the sea in the south east of England, and I am lucky enough to have a sea view from my house. I love living by the sea and enjoy the walking along the sea front, I have not been brave enough to go in yet! When I am not teaching I enjoy learning new languages and spending time with my daughter. My passion and specialism is Early reading and teaching children how to read. I believe the ability to read unlocks the rest of the curriculum for a child. Although I specialise in early reading I also enjoy teaching older children how to read. I love reading and want the same for all my pupils, nothing beats getting lost in a good book. I get to really know my pupils and tailor my lessons specifically around each pupil. I like to plan engaging lessons based on my pupils interests! I also love watching my pupils make progress and gain confidence in areas they may once have found difficult.
