A bit about Miss Abi

I believe in making learning fun and interesting. My lessons are based on the individual needs of the student and I adapt my teaching style to best suit this. With positive encouragement and carefully planned activities, I build up student's confidence in weaker areas so they can achieve their full potential! I am an experienced Primary School teacher and tutor who achieves excellent results. I have a DBS and school ID which I’m happy to show at the first lesson. I've taught Y6 intervention groups and am experienced with Y2 Sats, Y4 multiplication check and the Y1 phonics check. I graduated from Durham University as a Primary Teacher in 2005. Now I have over 15 years experience and have taught across the Primary School age range. I regularly teach year 6 groups preparing for Sats as well as other age groups. I have a particular interest in dyslexia and a number of students are dyslexic. I have lots of experiences and patience in tutoring in this area. My greatest success is enabling children to achieve their best! I have tutored children who have successfully gone on to achieve entry to local independent and grammar schools. As well as helping children improve their basic maths and English skills. I see lots of my success as supporting children to catch up with their peers and no longer need one to one tuition because they have grown in confidence, knowledge and understanding. I love teaching children and watching their light bulb moments when they understand a new topic or tricky concept.
