We'll start with a review of the previous lesson's learning, either in the form of a short multiple choice quiz, cloze procedure, or pre-planned questioning to ensure that all necessary concepts are secure before building upon the learning. The main body of the lesson will involve me modelling a particular skill or concept, the student having a go with my support, and then independent application of the skill by the student. We'll conclude with a review of the lesson's learning to ensure that the skill has 'stuck'. I try to vary the activities used, particular with younger pupils, so that they are fully engaged with the learning. However, each lesson will follow the same structure to minimise cognitive load.
