A bit about Shelby Y

Learning should be an experience. Children should enjoy learning! Everyone can be taught with patience and the right teacher. I want to give every student the best opportunities for the future and will dedicate myself to helping them reach their full potential while creating a happy environment. I can teach all of primary age groups. I am particularly passionate about teaching reading and maths. I hope I am able to fill any gaps in understanding that may be present before the students reach older year groups. I am currently a Year 3 teacher who has been teaching and tutoring for 5 years. I have a wealth of experience across all primary year groups and implement the latest teaching techniques to inspire and educate children. I have worked in SEN settings and have tutored children with additional needs. I currently work as the Head of Teaching and Learning and have an in-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum. I believe strongly that children should have a love of learning and work hard to inspire this in my students. Being able to play a role in helping children succeed! It so rewarding to help a student understand a tricky concept. I am a fully qualified primary teacher with QTS. I also have a degree in child psychology and completed many courses on Child Mental health. I specialise in teaching early reading, both comprehension and fluency.
