A bit about Cat

My favourite thing about being a tutor is that I get to help children learn in an environment that is beneficial to their needs. I love to engage children and build the rapport that is needed to further their learning. I like to engage children with a variety of fun lessons and a great sense of humour. I find that my down to earth, easy to approach personality is definitely something that puts children at ease, especially when their confidence needs building up. Outside of teaching, I am also a private tutor on an evening, which I love, as this gives me further opportunities to work with children and to help their learning. I also like to be outside hiking with my Cockerspaniel, Willow. I’m a big exercise fan, as I feel that the benefits you get from it for your well-being are priceless, as well as spending time with my friends and family! I believe that my greatest success in teaching is my ability to be able to communicate with children, as a way of being able to nurture and develop, not only their learning, but their confidence and self-esteem. I am a really big advocate of positive learning environments, as well as well-being and mental health. They are all so important for a children to enhance their learning. I have a 1:1 (first class) honours degree in Journalism and News Practice PGCE with QTS from York St John I have been a primary school teacher since 2017, teaching predominantly in upper KS2. As Covid-19 hit, I started working both from home, as well as teaching Key Worker children in school. Although I was working more, I felt that my work/life balance had increased - this is something that is especially hard to balance as a teacher. I then made the leap from class teacher to supply teacher in September 2021, as well as offering private tuition. I do this locally through my company Scribble Learning. Hi everyone! I'm Cat. I am a fully-qualified KS2 primary school teacher and private tutor with QTS. After always having my own class, I took the leap in September 2021 into the world of supply teaching and tutoring, as a way of trying to find a work/life balance that works for me :) This has gave me the opportunity to develop my skills in all year groups from Rec-Y6. I also currently offer private tuition on an evening locally to me and I'm absolutely loving it! :)
