A bit about Nicola N

I am a qualified teacher with 10 years experience of working with children and thoroughly enjoy my job! Making strong and positive relationships with pupils is imperative, as this ensures I can support children to enjoy learning, while watching their confidence grow. Ultimately, these strong relationships enable children to achieve their maximum potential. I am an Early Years Specialist and so understand that learning needs to be fun and engaging. I have also been a Reading and Phonics Leader for two years, and specialise in early reading, achieving great results in helping pupils to develop these fundamentally important skills. Lessons are planned with my student's needs at heart. There will be a clear learning intention but with the flexibility to adapt lessons if necessary to explore the child's interests. Students love my friendly, nurturing teaching style and enjoy taking part in my lessons. This ultimately means that children can gain the optimum positive learning experience. I have worked hard as a single parent to complete a degree in my late 30s while working to support my family. However, my greatest achievement as a teacher is to see my pupils learn, grow and flourish. To watch them gain new skills and knowledge, and to see the look of pride on their faces when they realise how much they have achieved, that is my greatest success. First Class BA (hons) in Early Years, with a Greenwich University award for Outstanding Achievement Early Years Teacher Status with distinction Qualified Teacher Status NPQ in Leading Teaching My family are most important to me and I enjoy spending as much time with them as possible. Alongside this, I love to read, swim, walk my dog and gardening.
