A bit about Sarah

I studied an undergraduate degree in Education with Psychology at the University of Bath, followed by a PGCE in Primary and Early Years (5-11). I love getting to know my students and finding ways to help them understand concepts they find challenging. The great thing about tutoring is that sessions can be tailored to the needs of the individual student, so you can really engage with learning and make fantastic progress in a short space of time! My primary goal as a tutor is to inspire students to be motivated and enjoy learning. I like to make students feel valued and encourage them to view mistakes as a natural part of the learning process. When students are interested in a subject and enjoying learning, they are much more likely to make progress! Keeping active is very important to me - it's so good for both physical and mental health. I practise yoga regularly and play netball for a local club. I love snowboarding and hope to move somewhere snowy one day! Other interests include: baking, reading, D&D and board games. I am an experienced primary school teacher and have taught from years 1 to 6. Most of my experience has been in KS2, including Y6 SATs preparation in maths, reading and SPaG. I have worked with students with various SEND needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia and trauma. I started teaching in 2018, having previously worked as support staff at a school for pupils with SEND. I recently made the leap from being a class teacher to doing supply work and tutoring, in the hope of finding a better work/life balance, and I am loving it!
