A bit about Ayeshah L

I am an experienced tutor, who specialises in English Literature. With over 200 hours of experience and excellent reviews, I take a holistic approach to tutoring aiming to boost confidence in subject knowledge, exam technique and overall attitude to learning. I break down the subject into manageable objectives to help the student build their base knowledge, going on to strengthen knowledge of literary techniques and analysis. I specialise in GCSE English, especially poetry and modern novels. With a degree in Film and History, I am able to introduce analytical techniques, historical/social context and how to apply this to the text to achieve higher grades. I also ensure my students are able to apply their knowledge outside the classroom, linking what they have learned to other subjects they enjoy or hobbies they have. With new students, I begin with a short assessment to figure out where the student is doing well, and where they need some extra support. Each lesson has a lesson objective for example to be able to respond to an exam question, or to demonstrate knowledge of the context of a text. I will talk the student through what the lesson objectives are, how we can achieve them and whether there is anything they would like to cover. In the event the student would like to cover something different, I have a variety of resources available. I have been tutoring since I was in secondary school. Being in top set English at GCSE, I would help students at KS2 with their reading, writing and comprehension skills. I began tutoring again in January 2022, and since then have built up a client base of both private and in school tutoring based students. I tutor year 6 to year 11, all main UK exam boards including AQA and Edexcel. I love being able to get to know my students, their interests and hobbies. It's a great way to adapt my lessons to be more engaging.
