A bit about Delia M

I have been a Spanish tutor and lecturer at Spanish and British Colleges and language centres for 25 years. I've also conducted my students' speaking exams. I am a native Spanish teacher, very knowledgeable in the Hispanic culture, politics, society, heritage... I'm aware of the difficulties of studying Spanish at higher levels and I have developed thousands of resources to make vocabulary, grammar, summaries, translations, listening, reading exercises or essays, much more accessible and understandable. Teaching Spanish has led me to fantastic opportunities, great friends and incredible experiences and I'd love you to experience life in Spanish as much as possible. My students and colleagues praise me for being approachable, easy-going, natural, fun, committed, organized, conscientious, creative and very helpful. I love learning as well as teaching. I look forward to learning with you and supporting you and I hope you end up loving the Spanish language and culture like I do. I specialise in GCSE, AS and A-level Spanish, all exam boards but, apart from teaching aiming to a particular exam or paper, I love teaching any level of Spanish, just for fun or any other reason! A very difficult question because I love so many things! : helping students gain confidence, use study techniques that work, use foolproof structures, understand grammar, nail the trickiest exam questions, surprising them with fun culture facts about the Spanish-speaking world or helping them get their mojo back. The students' college teachers acknowledge my teachings, support and efforts with their students and I love to see the distance they travel. I am a kind, patient, natural, spontaneous, creative, organized teacher. My students' needs are my priority so each section will focus on what you need to learn, revise or practise, whether you have an exam in mind or any other purpose (holiday, work, ...) My lessons are communicative, active, to the point, welcoming, focused, full of exam-orientated tips, with constant references to past papers, exam criteria or examiners' notes. Practical feedback, ways to improve and trial and error are always an ingredient in my lessons. Learning from each and every student, seeing that the student could get the result to get into their dream studies at their dream Uni, learning that the student managed to buy a house in Spain and make friends with the Spanish learnt with me, seeing the student got a job or promoted at a Spanish-speaking company, being contacted over FB, IG or Linkedin and thanked for my lessons years afterwards... Making a difference in people's lives. The student's needs + respect + empowering + confidence and self-esteem building + natural and spontaneous approach to language + clear feedback + deep knowledge on exam criteria. My students find it easy to speak in Spanish with me. They love my accent, explanations and pictures. The praise my clarity, enthusiasm, welcoming attitude, body language, examples, cultural fun facts, broad range of examples, feedback, autonomous work, speaking practice, or tailor-made resources. I never leave students alone and they appreciate it very much. Many students that never thought of studying Spanish at uni, decided to go for it or being told Spanish is their favourite subject.
