A bit about Sarah B

My name is Sarah. I have been a teacher for 12 years. 6 years within mainstream schools and 6 working predominantly with children aged 3-18 with additional support needs. These additional support needs vary from specific learning difficulties to looked after children, to children with multiple complex needs. I am friendly, patient and build learning around the young persons abilities, ensuring I provide enough challenge. As a primary teacher I can teach all subjects up to and including National 4. I enjoy Maths, Sciences and History the most. Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and going horse riding. My children and I often go out walking and visiting new exciting places. Student's have told me that they enjoy the humour I bring to lessons, making learning fun. They have shared previously that they love that I listen to them and make them feel like they are the only one who matters when they need it, by providing additional support, breaking down teaching points, providing brain breaks to reset and then reengage with the learning. They also like that I make learning "real", meaning they can see the purpose of what they are being taught. When I started Primary School, I went to a small rural school. My Headteacher was my idol as she did everything!! She was the cleaner, the admin, the dinner lady, the teacher and of course the Head teacher. She fascinated me and from primary 1 (age 4) I knew I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. And here I am.
