A bit about Lucy M

I'm an experienced Primary School Teacher who has taught all age ranges, but has a specialism in KS2. I have taught as a mainstream class teacher, a supply teacher and as a private Tutor. I now work primarily as an Essential Skills Tutor in Caerphilly. I really enjoy my varied roles and love tutoring on a one to one or small group basis where I feel in my element and enjoy seeing the progress my pupils make. I specialize in teaching Primary School pupils, particularly within KS2. I taught year 4 for many years but also have taught all year groups from Reception to year 6. I can teach all Primary aged subjects, but have a particular interest in Literacy and Numeracy. I also History and the Foundation subjects. I usually get ton know the pupil a bit first with ice breakers and informal assessment activities. I have a 'what matters' conversation with the pupil and their parent/carer. I find out what the pupil would like to improve on and then plan some lessons from there. I usually start with a warm-up activity, then introduce the main task and then do a plenary at the end, but am flexible in my approach.
