A bit about Amy

I love teaching and building confidence in students in topics they feel less confident in. My experience has taught me a range of methods to teach topics which ensures that all students can reach their potential. I have been a qualified teacher for 4 years and have been tutoring for 2 years. I have a maths degree and a masters in education. I specialise in maths from year 7 to GCSE, however I can teach students in primary and those doing A Level maths. I also studied art, geography and physics at A-Level. After getting to know a student, I can adapt easily to suit the individuals needs. However, I usual start with ten random quick fire questions covering a range of topics. Then focus on one topic in particular, explaining and working through questions. Following that we would finish on a more active and fun activity using the knowledge just learnt. I started tutoring in 2016 when I was half way through studying for my maths degree. I continued this into my first year of teaching. Over the last year I have also tutored students after school twice a week. Building the confidence in students to believe they can achieve. Active, fun, enjoyable, informative Fully understating one students needs and being able to build a good rapport, ultimately hepjng them teach their potential. Every child can learn, just not every child learns in the same way. Teachers and teaching styles need to adapt to each individual. Students always say that my lessons are enjoyable and that they feel that the concepts are easier to understand when I teach them. I have taught some of the most vulnerable students, one in particular had started to become a school refuser. Over the years they looked forward to my maths lessons and returned to school full time and gained a good set of GCSEs. 11 GCSE’s 5 AS levels 3 A levels Maths degree Teaching degree Masters in education I recognised during my time at school that everyone needed teaching in a different way, and unfortunately I struggled to understand the standard method at the time. This encouraged me to become an adaptable teacher that builds up the courage for all students Art, I love painting and drawing. I also enjoy running and swimming. I love walking and spending time outside. Travelling, I am a big believer in seeing as many places from around the world and learning about the cultures. I have used both OCR and Edexcel. I have taught years 7 to 11.
