A bit about Kevin

I have been a BioIogy teacher for 11 years and have worked in two Outstanding secondary schools in England ranging from mixed ability and also a high achieving selective grammar school. I am used to preparing students who are looking to obtain the top grades in Biology. I am currently Head of Biology in an International school. After consulting with the student which topics they want help with, I will explain concepts with the help of diagrams. I will ask questions to help the student understand. After, the student will practice by maybe expaining it to me or practicing key words like a gap fill activity. Later more complex type questions requiring a longer answer with explanations which is where the higher marks are and often finishing with exam style questions and analysis of the markschemes. PGCE (with QTS) teaching certificate in Science with Biology specialism, Sheffield Hallam University, England Masters in Exercise Physiology, Sheffield Hallam University, England BSc (Hons) Degree in Biology, Newcastle University, England I have experience with the examination boards of Cambridge International, OCR and AQA. The results in our Science department have been the best in the school for the last two years. I have helped students to obtain the top grades to go to some of the best universities in the UK, including Oxford and Cambridge I have helped students who were on course to fail Biology to get a C grade/ 5. I am friendly and always want my students to feel comfortable and relaxed in my lessons. I build positive teaching relationships with my students. If I have explained something and the student is still unsure about how to answer the question, I am happy to explain again or maybe differently and would never make the student feel bad for not knowing. This calm and understanding way is why many students in my school say I am their favourite teacher.
