A bit about Atif K

My background: - PhD Economics Student, University of Manchester - MRes Economics, University of Manchester (2017-2019) - Economic Consultant and Researcher (2015-2017 - MSc. Development Economics, University of Manchester (2014-2015) - Junior Economist, Office for National Statistics (2012-2013) - BSc. (Hons.) Economics with a year in Industry, University of Kent (2010-2014) - A-Levels in Mathematics, Economics and Psychology Programming languages and software that I know: Julia, Python, Matlab, R, STATA, Fortran I consider my self a lifelong student. I am always curious to learn new things and whilst I love learning, I know very well the challenges associated with studying a given subject. For this reason, I consider my tutees as peers and fellow students on the same journey. So I do not see my job as simply providing you with answers. Instead, my job is: - to encourage you and help you to see your potential - to nurture the tools you need so you can confidently approach the subject matter - to identify gaps in knowledge and pre-emptively address problem areas - to help clarify a problem and clear misunderstandings - to provide different perspectives in understanding - to help structure your thoughts - to challenge you to excel - and to ensure actual learning has taken place Subjects I teach: - Microeconomics - Macroeconomics - Business economics - Business analysis - Financial economics - Monetary Economics - Econometric theory (cross-section, panel and timeseries) - Applied Econometrics with R, STATA or Python - Mathematics - Further Mathematics - Probability and statistics - Data science and machine learning with Python, R and SQL - Development economics - International trade Highlights of my teaching method: - creating a judgement free, relaxed environment where you feel safe to learn and ask *any* question! - developing a clear learning path tailored to you - understanding concepts from different perspectives - understanding intuition behind the math - problem based learning - exam focus (because passing exams is important too!) - incorporating technology and digital learning resources - providing high quality feedback to encourage your improvement - celebrating your successes both small and big I can teach all exam boards including AQA, Edexcel, WJEC, My favourite thing about being a tutor is seeing the student grow, develop and realise their potential.
