A bit about Emilia C

My specialist subjects as a private tutor are Maths and Portuguese (I’m native Brazilian). I also teach English/ESOL/Literacy to adults. I am a qualified Performing Arts teacher who has been teaching Maths in private tuitions for more than 25 years. I have also been teaching students with learning difficulties and disabilities in Further Education in London since 2006 and consider my experience as a Drama & Dance teacher very valuable while teaching Maths, as it allows me to explore alternative teaching approaches that cater for all learning styles. I have been tutoring professionally in London since June 2014. My specialist subjects were initially Portuguese Language and Maths. Later I also started teaching Spanish for GCSE and English/ESOL. I am a qualified Performing Arts - Dance & Theatre - teacher who has been teaching Maths in private tuitions for more than 25 years. I have also been teaching students with learning difficulties and disabilities in Further Education in London since 2006. I’m passionate about Maths! When I’m teaching this subject, my aim is to motivate the students to find and explore the fun in every activity - specially when they are preparing for their final exams - as it helps them to relax, this way improving their ability to focus. As a teacher, I try to think outside the box, planning every lesson according to my student’s preferences and learning style. I believe in a student-centred approach. My lessons are always focused on the specific needs of each student in a way that their unique skills are emphasised. Their self-confidence will improve and that’s very important when preparing for exams, for example. When I’m teaching, my main focus is on the individual - my student: their motivations, preferences, learning style, age group, background, etc. I try to think out of the box, in order to facilitate the achievement of their goals.
