A bit about Kobina

I specialise in teaching Maths and Statistics, but I also teach GSCE English and Economics. I teach Maths and Statistics at all levels: from primary education to the tertiary level, and I've taught students at KS3, GSCE, A-level and at the university. I've developed a casual, relaxed, and patient teaching style that depends on the use a variety of different examples and ways of explaining concepts. I don't mind spending long periods of time on a single idea, or problem. Sometimes students who seem to be the slowest to grasp concepts, eventually understand them more thoroughly than those who hastily assume that they understand things, when there may in fact be gaps in their knowledge. I am a musician. Specifically, I make genre-bending electronic music with orchestral and dance elements. I intend to release a number of songs in the near future, and I take my musical work fairly seriously. I also have an interest in linguistics and language learning. I'm primarily learning the Japanese language at the moment, and I enjoy it despite the difficulties involved. I enjoy seeing students improve their understanding of concepts. Sometimes this process takes a long time, but the effort of the student motivates me to patiently help them achieve clarity and understanding. I first started tutoring when I played the role of teaching assistant at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. The job involved organising tutorial sessions with students, answering their questions (both in class and during office hours), invigilation, and marking tests and examinations. Following this period, I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for two years and a half years at the University of Liverpool, during my time as a PhD student there. I've also been tutoring students online for about a quarter of a year. So in all, I have almost four years of tutoring experience.
