A bit about Edward S

I have over six year’s experience tutoring, during which time I have earned a distinguished reputation for delivering excellent results across a range of age groups and examinations. I am proud to have aided students’ entry into some of Britain’s most elite schools, with former students boasting admissions to Westminster, Tiffin School, St Paul’s and King’s College to name a few. My 11+ knowledge has been built on astute dedication to detail, forming a first class understanding of the nature of the examinations - including the ISEB - with in-depth comprehension of individual school requirements, needs and expectations. This wealth of experience means that I am positioned strongly to advise on suitable school options, and regularly offer consultations with parents. During this, I am able to share my knowledge, and help orient students to their optimal destinations. In addition to my work at 11+, I have an abundance of experience working with students at KS3, GCSE, IB and A Level. I have worked with secondary students from diverse and varied backgrounds; including state secondary students as well as pupils from Eton, St Paul’s and other academically selective schools. I have dedicated many hours to acutely knowing the details of an enormous spectrum of exam boards, courses, and subjects; and as such, am able to offer tutoring in a broad range of subjects, with excellent results. My tutees have taken places at some of the UK’s finest Universities, including Oxford, UCL and other Russell Group institutions. This application process is one which I offer support with throughout, and I am proud to have offered interview coaching and UCAS application support to successful applicants of Oxford amongst others. During my time as a tutor, I have worked closely with SEN students of all ages, providing close, uniquely tailored support, appreciative of their individual needs. Alongside this, I have adapted this skill to working with students abroad, such as my work as a tutor in Moscow where I mentored students closely, and my continued work internationally as an online tutor in Russia, Germany and the USA: where I have a proven record of bringing students up to speed with the UK system, and aiding their transition. The versatile approach that I bring to tutoring has resulted in offering support to adult learners as well as young learners. I offer guidance on adults transitioning to the UK, helping them learn English through traditional methods as well as drama based learning, integrating role play and assisting in acclimatising to English customs and social etiquette. This has resulted in helping adult learners in their everyday interactions, alongside providing coaching and support for areas such as job interviews, CV’s, and the English based side of their move to the United Kingdom. My ethos of teaching is centred around the individual needs of the students. I try to teach with enthusiasm whilst upholding a person-centred approach, adapting methods, tools and resources to the student. I try to draw upon my background in Psychology, and help students to understand themselves, plan their futures and organise their lives in a way which may transition them into adulthood best. This philosophy has leant itself well to maximising students interests in a broad range of diverse and global issues, allowing them to go forth into the world with inquisitive, open and explorative minds. 2016!
